SALT LAKE CITY, UT - MRSI International, the developer of high-tech personal security systems, has entered into a joint venture with Global Tracking Solutions LTD to create new products for safety related agencies and companies. Global Tracking Solutions develops software that helps clients track their resources through such technologies as global positioning systems, video and biometrics (like voice and fingerprint identification).

According to MRSI President and CEO Michael Rabanne, the two companies will initially work together to develop new applications for Global Tracking Solutions' current Precision Tracker 2002 product. The Precision Tracker 2002, in its current form, is aimed at general consumers and allows users of the system to place a tracking device on any item or person. By using a personal computer, users can then track the exact location of this item or person through a global positioning system in close to real time.

Rabanne says MRSI and Global Tracking Solutions want to modify Precision Tracker 2002 so the device can be used to help companies and government agencies expand the applications of the current technology.

"We want to make the tracking devices more sophisticated so they can contain more information. For example, a furniture company could place a tracking device on a pallet full of stereos, and the tracking device could contain the number of stereos on the pallet, the models numbers of the stereos, prices and any other information needed. So, in addition to being able to locate this pallet instantaneously through a global positioning system, we can also provide immediate inventory information to the furniture company. The potential applications for personal safety are almost limitless," he says. Rabanne says the two companies will also work together to integrate biometrics into other security and tracking products.
